1 word - Awesome!
2 words - More guns!

I think it was really really well done.
The music was cool along with the sfx.
The zombies exploding sounded like from the game Cubito Mayhem on NG.
You should check it out, similar concept.

I strictly advise you to add in more weapon upgrades, because i thought it just wasn't enough for me to survive just with 2 gun types and it seemed repetitive and you kinda feel bored after a certain point.
Because in a game as you proceed in time you marginally get stronger and gain the ability to "survive longer and hit harder".

The game wasn't hard so that actually made up for the fact you need not become stronger to survive, with just a little keyboard skills you could move and kill easily :)

I survived for 740 seconds, killed 2658 zombies and my score was: 140200.

If I could do this with just 2 gun types and 1 weapon upgrade that lasted only for a short duration.
Imagine what one could achieve with more gun upgrades and types.

I personally didn't have any issues with the reload time, that is how any gun works.

More importantly this game requires a mini map, not well designed or anything just a plain one pointing where your current location is so that when a new upgrade or a med kit appears you could reach it to pick it up to make killing more efficient. I think you get the picture.
I'm pointing this out because I had to run around looking for the upgrades all over the map whenever I heard the sound of a drop somewhere.

But after hitting the 90,000 mark it kinda started lagging or the performance dipped, not sure if it was because of my computer hardware or the game. It slowed down a bit for some time and then again got back and this kept repeating. I hope you check this out.

Finally when I die the game displays my current score as the high score when I played it for the first time, that is how it must work. But later when I played the second time and died my current score was displayed as the High score, meaning my previous High score of 140200 disappeared. I think that should be fixed, so that every user has a high score registered to their own accounts.

This game was well executed, in my opinion it could definitely do far better.

Really appreciate the amount of effort you put to make everything on your own.
Well done and Good Luck further !

Hey, thanks for the review :D

I'm impressed you gave me so much information to work with :)
A minimap might be a possibility, I've no idea how easy that'd be to implement but I could certainly try.

The game is certainly easier with KB&M controls, I actually added them in at last minute to make the game more playable to a larger percentage of players on the web.

Sorry about the score issues I might have messed things up there, I'll recheck the code, but if you're playing in the same browser it should theoretically stay.

The limited amount of guns/powerups could use a rework, however it was meant to originally be about a 2 minute mobile game in terms of survival times, so it wouldn't matter loads to that demographic. However I could totally rework the powerup system making every powerup a unique weapon, maybe with an ammo limit rather than a time limit, and after you run out you revert to your default weapon.

Thanks for all the info, it's really helpful in seeing how I can advance this game/future games.

You worked on the visuals like you said.
I really liked it too.
The music was also cool and it kept me going.
Add in more levels maybe ?
Can you try animating the eyes on the block, like the eyes follow the mouse when you move it around ?
If you could do that it would be way more cooler!

Stick to a particular theme like choose a scenery or make your own, so it would look better instead of choosing some plain old image for your Background.

Also the duck hat, Commended !
Maybe add in more bonus hats.

I suggest you make a holiday themed game, since Christmas is almost there !
Like a snowy background and a Santa hat as a reward!
Don't forget the Holiday music too :D

Well done and Good Luck !

Pretty decent I would say
But it hurts too much to play this game, literally!
The game is not as soothing as the music is :(
5/5 for the music.
After level 15, it becomes too much to ask for.
If you could like add in some upgrades to improve the hike i think it could make it much more better and ease it on the fingers.
Also you could also add in some extra features so that it could also be visually appealing.

Well done on your chill game
And Good Luck further !

AlexTheGreatish responds:

Thank you very much for the review! I'll take that into consideration.

EDIT: I took your advice! Upgrades(along with other features) are in the sequel! https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/710252

The ground looks 3D but when you click to create a platform over it, it's created in front or over the layer making it look like a 2D background, and it does not look very well.
And moreover the platforms are not created where you want them,i.e they are a few pixels below the cursor.
I hope you fix that.
Also like Other person pointed out that it is possible to create multiple platforms, I could keep randomly creating new platforms all over and watch them fall for about a minute.

I suggest you create a reload time where, when you create say about 5 platforms you require a cool down until you can create another set of platforms.

Also the background is well designed but the platforms also need some depth to make it look better for the whole game to be complete !
Just some plain thin line would not suffice for the concept to come together.
Adding some music and sfx would also make this game viable to be released on Mobile Platforms.

Well done on you game concept and Hope you fix the issues.
Good Luck further !

This game is epic.
One of the best concepts ever, and the level progression is ridiculously well developed.
But the first 3 stages looked as if they were not properly, looked like some old anime on dull paper.
I couldn't tell if it was a bug or you designed it to look like a tutorial mode, and made it look better as you entered the challenge without instructions on what to do at each level.

But after the first 3 stages the 3rd render improved and looked pretty nice along with the music.
But the shadows still looked pixelated though and also broken in pieces and felt like some parts were missing from the shadow.
Also adding in a main menu would help.
Also add in instructions as in how to dodge the obstacles before a level begins, because I personally found it hard when I had to encounter multiple obstacles at the same time.

Well done and Good Luck
Can't wait to see the full game.

Kashkavalko responds:

Thank you for that amazing review!

I'm still testing more options for the presentation of the tutorial's stage and the gameplay in main stages, feedbacks like yours help me to know what is missing and what should be checked twice.

Thanks.

God this game is on Hard Mode .
But it says Normal mode, Literally couldn't throw 1 punch.
Got cornered from the start.
But the SFX were on point.
Please consider adjusting the difficulty setting !
Well done.

3 Levels in not enough .
Seriously turning boring facts into a game, Dude I think you have been through a lot to come up with such a concept!
Liked the sfx selections, Like the star wars music and turning it into an arcade tune !
Well everybody has to start somewhere , here's an 'A' for effort .
Good Luck further!

Cool rpg.
But it becomes repetitive after some time.
The pixel art was pretty nice.
But when you walk around talking with other mice it felt like I was inside a Hospital for the mentally ill.
Just saying.
And the music, Wow the type of suspense it held.
You chose well my friend.
It almost felt like the tunes from the Netflix series Stranger Things :D

Remember 'A' for effort.

Well done and Good Luck Further !

This is a game that has taken inspiration from a lot of games, And you have just perfected it.
I can tell you worked really hard on this game.
Really liked the design and the character illustrations made it look like something from retro comic books .
But for me, the poison meteors were a bit much i think, There should be a difficulty option too, just because there is a lot of stuff going on this game.
Also when i had 3 power ups of the boxes were full, i could not shoot.
Why ?
Please check.

Well done team, and Good luck further !

If I must be brutally honest, this is almost repetitive man.
Recently there have been more games like this, like dodge the dots and such.
So it's a 3 star for me.
But I really liked the music and how it intensified over time almost got to a point that i wanted to hear more of it, but i couldn't keep up.
This is a challenging game.

So when you click to begin the cubes in the main start falling like an intro scene, so I kept clicking for it to skip so i could play it already, as i kept clicking the game just wouldn't begin until i stopped clicking and took a few seconds after I stopped clicking.
I think that games should not respond to unnecessary clicking like this, and ignore clicks until the game begins.
Just leaving my thoughts here.

Also I think there should be a difficulty option, so that you might have a larger audience who might appreciate this game !

Anyway Well done on your game, "A" for effort !
Good Luck further !
